Sympathy Quotes .... What do I write?

During my time working in a local florist, I realised it wasn't only me who found writing a sympathy card one of the hardest things to do.  Suffering personal and close loss myself I understand that the death of a loved one is definitely the most emotional time a human can go through.  What do we say in times of absolute grief?  Sometimes sympathy messages can come across as too common and without genuine feeling.  It's always best to add a personal touch, ie mention something special about the deceased.  Listed below are 10 ideas which can be changed or extended to assist you when writing a sympathy card.

+ Gone from our sight but not from our heart

+ Forever remembered, forever missed

+ Hold tight the memories for comfort, lean on your friends and family for strength, and always remember how much you are loved.

+ Words seem inadequate to express our sorrow felt by the loss of (name of person).  My heart is with love.

+ Wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your hearts.

+ While there is no way we can feel your pain, we do feel your loss as we have known (name of person) for many years.  Peace and love to you and your family during this sorrowful time.

+ My heart goes out to you.  I can't imagine how you feel during this time, but will do everything I can to help you heal through love and support.

+ My deepest sympathy - As the days continue to pass I hope you find comfort in the people that surround you and the wonderful memories you carry in your mind and in your heart.

+ I wish I had words to lighten your agony but sometimes words are just not enough.  Please accept my deepest condolences on your loss.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.

+ Deepest sympathy.  A loss does not have to be walked through alone.  Know that you are loved by so many.

One of the most special sympathy gifts I received after my fathers passing was a Peace Lily Plant.  That was 18 years ago and I still have the plant to this day.  A sympathy gift is a symbol of thought and spending a large amount of money is not necessary to show someone you care. Plants and candles make a lovely, simple gift but the best gift of all which costs absolutely nothing is a big warm hug!
